An Old Programmer

Studied mathematics and computer science at university in the 1980s.
Worked as a contractor/consultant, but mostly for different software product companies.
Programmed in many programming languages, some quite obscure. In later years mostly C, Ruby, and shell scripts.
Worked on all kinds of Unixes and Linuxes, mostly with server programming, databases, and other “back-end” software, rarely with GUI or web applications.
Managed to almost (but not quite) avoid Windows. Never liked it.
